DECEMBER 2019: BRINGING THE MESSAGE OF HOPE

FOCUS: Baptised & Sent
THEME: Respecting Others
Befriending the World in Christ

OPENING HYMN: O Come Divine Messiah ( E 13 )
O Come, Divine Messiah
The world in silence waits the day.
When hope shall sing its triumph
And sadness flees away

Chorus: Sweet Saviour haste, come, come to earth,
Dispel the night and show thy face,
And bid us hail the dawn of Grace
O Come Divine Messiah,
The world in silence waits the day,
When hope shall sing its triumph,
And sadness flees away.

Thou’lt come in Peace and Meekness,
And lowly will Thy cradle be,
All veiled in human weakness,
Thy majesty we’ll see.

O Thou whom nations sighed for,
Whom seer and prophet long foretold,
Wilt break the captive’s fetters,
Redeem the long-lost fold.

OPENING PRAYER:
Lord God we thank You because U love us. You sent Your Beloved Son Jesus, to Save us, to Redeem us. You invited us to belong to You and we became Your children through Baptism. Now You are sending us out to help heal the world – to make the world Your Kingdom. Give us Your Courage and Your zeal to help, especially those who are poor, those who are weak and those who are helpless..
We make this Prayer through Christ Our Lord … Amen.

Discuss the Opening Prayer ( 10 mins )
What is the meaning of the ‘Opening Prayer’….
Suggest how to make it better.

SCRIPTURE READING: Is 7:14
The Lord, Himself, therefore will give you a sign. It is this: the maiden is with child and will soon give birth to a Son whom she will call Immanuel.

Deep Discussion:
‘ IMMANUEL’ means ‘God is with us’

  • WHAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP DO I HAVE WITH GOD
  • WHAT IS MY RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU? WHAT IS OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH EACH OTHER?
  • OUR POPE IS CALLING US TO MISSION. HOW IS THIS AFFECTED BY WE BEING THE ‘EMMANUEL PEOPLE’?

CHRISTMAS:
As Members of the ‘EMMANUEL FAMILY’ How can we bring a difference to our CHRISTMAS celebrations:

  1. I, Personally …
  2. Our BEC Family
  3. Our Parish Family?

OPTIONAL:
What about writing out a prayer your BEC Members could pray during the 12 Days of Christmas?

Additional Readings: Mt.12: 50; Jn.17: 18, 20 – 23

CLOSING HYMN: WE ARE ONE IN JESUS
We are one in Jesus, all of us are One.

All of us are siblings, siblings of our Lord.
All of us are siblings, siblings of our Lord.
We are one, we are one, siblings of our risen Lord
We are one, we are one, in the Spirit of our Lord.
All of us are siblings, siblings of our Lord.
Jesus is our brother, Christ and we are One.
Jesus is our brother, Christ and we are One.
One in mind, one in heart, in the Spirit from on high,
With our brother in our midst, never more to die.
Jesus is our Brother, Christ and we are One.
We are one in Jesus, all of us are one.
ALL OF US ARE One, all of us are ONE!
